Here's Wishing All of Our Customers a Happy, Healthy and Delicious 2011!
Cold Weather Update
The recent freezes remain foremost in our thoughts. Over the last few years, we’ve seen the winters get colder and stay that way longer. We are currently experimenting with greenhouses and hardier varietals, so that we can continue to raise our crops year-round in every type of weather.
Let’s hope the old-timers are right. The freezes we experienced over the holidays damaged and killed many crops. As a result, we are working other local farms to provide you the most variety we can under these circumstances. There is hope. These beauties(above) are currently thriving in our greenhouse, and in another month they will be in the field.

Focus on: Aromatics
Great smells can bring back memories, initiate hunger and trigger excitement. What they do behind the scenes is even more exciting. Ginger and scallions are great for us during this time of year. People are succumbing to coughs, cold and the dreaded flu. Ginger and scallions are both used in traditional Chinese medicine to stimulate the lungs. Ginger (Jiang or “defend”) stimulates the yang energy and warms lung and stomach energy. Ginger also supports the spleen, heart and kidneys. Scallions, a “warm” food cure, are used to treat colds. They are often prescribed for a runny nose, nasal congestion fever, chills and headaches.
